Privacy policy
Cited ("the App") is provided by The Canary Web. This summary explains what data the App accesses and how it is handled. A merchant can request full details at any time.
What we access
- read_products — your product catalog (titles, types, vendors, attributes), used to generate realistic buyer queries and to measure where your products appear in AI shopping results.
We never request payment, banking, or government-ID data. We do not access customers or orders.
What we store
Your tracked buying queries and the historical audit results (positions, competitors, scores) used to show trends over time; the optimizations we generate and apply to your products; the authentication record from your Shopify session (store domain, and the account name/email/locale Shopify provides) and the access token needed to call the Shopify Admin API on your behalf, scoped to your store; and, if you contact us through the in-app Help form, the email address and message you send us.
Third parties
To generate buyer queries we send a small, non-personal sample of your product titles/types to an AI model provider (Anthropic). We query Shopify's Global Catalog to measure visibility. No customer data is involved.
Retention & deletion
Data is retained while the App is installed. We honor Shopify's GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and delete all store data on uninstall.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with infrastructure providers strictly necessary to run the service (Shopify, our AI model provider, and our hosting provider).
